Police kill suspect, arrest two in foiled Oyo robbery

The Oyo State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of a successful operation carried out following an attempted armed robbery incident along Saki Road, Iseyin.

The operation was initiated following credible intelligence about an attempted armed robbery at a residence that had unfortunately been targeted before. The command's rapid deployment of detectives to the scene prevented the crime and restored normalcy, demonstrating their commitment to proactive policing.

At about 0200hrs, credible intelligence was received regarding an ongoing attempted armed robbery attack at a residence situated close to the scene of an earlier reported robbery incident within the same axis. In swift response, detectives were immediately mobilised to the scene to forestall the attack and restore normalcy.

During the encounter, a courageous resident security guard engaged the armed suspects, resulting in the death of one and the capture of two. The remaining suspects fled with injuries, and a search of the scene yielded a locally made firearm, ammunition, mobile phones, and suspected stolen money. This successful operation sends a clear message that criminal activities will not be tolerated in Oyo State.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects, numbering about five (5), invaded the residence which had reportedly suffered a similar attack sometime in February.
