Police launch night hunt for 'reckless' cars, find chaos: Almost all fail technical inspection

Karlovačka police launched a targeted night operation to curb reckless driving and vehicle non-compliance. The action, which ran from 9:30 PM to 1:30 AM, focused on drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs, as well as vehicles with technical issues or illegal modifications. Police monitored areas known for car and motorcycle gatherings, including the ŠRC Korana sports complex, which had previously drawn noise complaints.

During the operation, 18 vehicles were subjected to extraordinary technical inspections. Shockingly, only one vehicle passed the inspection. The remaining 17 were found to have technical faults or non-compliant installed parts. Two vehicles had dangerous defects and were immediately removed from circulation, while 15 others had significant issues.

In addition to the vehicle issues, officers also impounded an unregistered motorcycle. One driver, whose car failed the technical inspection, was found with 27.3 grams of marijuana and tested positive for drugs. He refused a blood test and will face legal consequences under traffic safety and drug abuse laws. In total, 28 violations were recorded, with 23 directly related to technical deficiencies in the vehicles.
