A disturbing video capturing a police officer throwing a dog into the sea near Pašman, Croatia, has ignited widespread public anger and condemnation on social media. The footage, which circulated widely on Facebook, shows the dramatic moments of an arrest at sea.

In the video, officers are seen apprehending a man on a police vessel. A dog, initially on board, approaches a third officer who then lifts and throws the animal into the water. The dog is seen swimming alongside the boat, attempting to regain access. Social media users reacted with shock and dismay, with comments like "Terrible!!!" and "Shame on him." Many called for the officer's dismissal and for accountability.

The Zadar Police Department provided an explanation, stating the incident occurred Saturday around 5:40 PM near Kraj on Pašman island. Police were responding to a sailboat interfering with swimmers when they encountered a man and his dog. The man, identified as a 37-year-old Croatian national wanted for offenses against family and children, reportedly resisted arrest and jumped into the sea with his dog.

According to the police, the man continued to resist after being brought back onto the vessel and was subdued with force. Regarding the dog, police claim it initially jumped onto the official vessel on its own. In agreement with a municipal warden present, officers released the dog into the sea due to the risk of the vessel running aground and the potential threat posed by the animal. The municipal warden then took custody of the dog.
