Police seek two suspects in Santiago de los Caballeros fatal shooting

Authorities in Santiago de los Caballeros are actively seeking two men believed to be responsible for the fatal shooting of Amaury Saviñón, also known as "Maurito." The incident occurred Friday in the Baracoa sector of the city.

According to preliminary police reports, the two suspects were riding a motorcycle when they allegedly opened fire on Saviñón, who was standing on García Copes street. Saviñón sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died at the scene. The assailants then escaped on the same motorcycle.

Initially, reports suggested multiple attackers were involved, but the investigation has narrowed the focus to these two individuals. Police have described one suspect as a "known criminal" but have not released his name or specific details linking him to the murder. The second suspect remains unidentified.

Saviñón had recently been released from prison following a drug-related case. However, police have not yet established a motive for the killing or confirmed whether his prior legal troubles are connected to the shooting. Investigators are collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses to reconstruct the events leading up to and following the crime. No arrests have been made.
