Polish cities continue road repairs into September

Polish cities are extending their summer road repair season well into September, transforming urban landscapes into ongoing construction sites. Crews are actively engaged in repairing not only road surfaces but also tram tracks, sidewalks, and modernizing underground infrastructure.

In Warsaw, the Municipal Roads Authority (ZDM) explains that current projects are proceeding according to plan, even if they extend beyond the summer months. Maciej Dziubiński from ZDM noted that many repairs involve more than just resurfacing, often including sub-base replacement and sidewalk reconstruction, which naturally requires more time. Warsaw has recently completed work on major streets like Aleje Jerozolimskie and Wólczyńska, with further projects slated to finish by the end of August.

Łódź has also seen extensive work, with plans to complete projects on 41 streets by the end of summer. Tomasz Andrzejewski from Łódzkie Inwestycje stated that the city is undertaking both quick road repairs and longer-term investments, aiming to complete the most challenging phases during the summer. However, larger reconstructions will persist into the autumn.

In Kraków, the Municipal Roads Authority (ZDM) is still compiling data on the total length of roads and sidewalks repaired, as these figures are finalized during project acceptance. So far, approximately 5 kilometers of roads and 1.4 kilometers of sidewalks have undergone renovation. Poznań has also been busy, with repairs on streets like Grunwaldzka beginning in mid-August. The Poznań ZDM anticipates that most summer-scheduled work will conclude by early September, though they acknowledge that adverse weather conditions could cause delays.
