Polish President appoints 21 officers to general and admiral ranks

Polish President Andrzej Duda has approved the promotion of 21 officers to general and admiral ranks, according to a statement from the Presidency. The appointments, made in accordance with Article 134, Paragraph 5 of the Constitution of the Republic of Poland and at the request of the Minister of National Defense, mark a significant strengthening of the armed forces.

Six officers were promoted to the second general rank, Major General. These include Mariusz Chmielewski, the recently appointed commander of Cyber Command; Tomasz Jatczak, Inspector of the Air Force in the General Command; Rafał Kowalik, commander of the Multinational Division North-East; Sławomir Kozicki, director of the budget department at the Ministry of National Defense (MON); Sławomir Lidwa, commander of the 11th Armored Cavalry Division; and Jacek Sankowski, director of the infrastructure department at MON.

Vice Admiral Piotr Sikora, Deputy Commander of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces, received a promotion equivalent to Major General in the Navy. Additionally, fourteen officers, comprising thirteen colonels and one captain (komandor), received their first general rank, either Brigadier General or Rear Admiral. Notable among them are Captain Artur Kołaczyński, commander of the 8th Coastal Defense Flotilla; Colonel Renart Skrzypczak, commander of the 1st Warsaw Armored Brigade; and Colonel Dariusz Kwiatkowski, deputy commander of the Cyber Command.

Several officers working within the MON and the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces also received their first general appointments. These include Colonel Grzegorz Faka, director of the personnel department at MON; Colonel Dariusz Piotrowiak, deputy head of the control department at MON; Colonel Janusz Misiak, deputy head of the Operational Planning Department at the General Staff; Colonel Mirosław Płomiński, deputy head of the Planning and Development Department of the Armed Forces at the General Staff; and Colonel Mirosław Postołowicz, deputy head of the Command and Control Department at the General Staff.

Other officers receiving their first Brigadier General rank include Colonel Zbigniew Krzyszczuk, commander of the 2nd Lublin Territorial Defense Brigade; Colonel Piotr Paluch, deputy head of the Armaments Agency; Colonel Zbigniew Targoński, chief of staff of the Territorial Defense Forces Command; Colonel Krzysztof Klin, deputy head and head of logistics at the Armed Forces Support Inspectorate; Colonel pil. Krzysztof Szymaniec, rector-commander of the Air Force Academy in Dęblin; and Colonel pil. Robert Weissgerber, deputy chief of staff for planning in the Operational Command of the Armed Forces. Minister of National Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who countersigned the nominations, stated that this is good news, showing the Polish Army will be strengthened by new generals.
