Ponce de León wins TC2000 race after dramatic crash and close finish in La Pampa

The return of TC2000 to the Toay autodrome in La Pampa after five years delivered a dramatic race filled with incidents, including a severe accident and a close finish. Gabriel Ponce de León secured his second victory at the venue, winning the sixth round of the season by a mere 249 thousandths of a second in his Toyota Corolla Cross.

The race was marked by a frightening crash early on when Tomás Fernández's Nissan Kicks collided heavily with the wall and rolled over. While Fernández's accident was the day's biggest scare, the victory celebrations belonged to Ponce de León, who edged out his competitors in a thrilling finale.

Qualifying saw Facundo Aldrighetti claim his first pole position with Honda, but the race itself presented challenges for many. Matías Rossi, the current championship leader, experienced a difficult weekend. Despite a strong history at Toay, he struggled with his car's balance and ultimately finished 12th after his engine failed.

Emiliano Stang, another Toyota driver and championship contender, also faced setbacks. His car stalled at the start, forcing him into a race against time to recover positions, ultimately finishing sixth and missing an opportunity to close the gap on Rossi.
