Pool attendant rescues child from drowning in Mersin

A swift response by a pool attendant saved a young child from drowning at a holiday resort in Mersin's Erdemli district on the morning of August 12, 2026. The incident occurred at a resort in Çeşmeli Mahallesi when an 8-9-year-old child, who had entered the pool with their family, began to struggle.

Panic ensued as the child and other youngsters in the pool started shouting. Pool attendant Sadık Kurt, alerted by the commotion, immediately recognized the danger. Without hesitation, he jumped into the water and reached the child, successfully bringing them to safety.

"I heard the child's screams, then I saw them sink to the bottom. I jumped straight into the pool," Kurt recounted. "We saved the child, and their health is very good."
