Porsche on Assisted Driving Crashes into Buffer Vehicle on Taiwan Freeway; Repair Costs Soar

A luxury Porsche, reportedly operating on its assisted driving system, collided with a construction buffer vehicle on National Freeway No. 3 in Nantou, Taiwan. The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on Thursday, involving a Porsche Cayenne SUV driven by a 32-year-old man.

The Porsche, traveling in the innermost lane, directly struck the buffer vehicle that was performing its duties. The impact resulted in severe front-end damage to the Porsche and deformation of the buffer vehicle's rear. Despite the significant damage, both drivers escaped the collision unharmed.

This incident follows a similar event just a day prior on National Freeway No. 6, where another car using an assisted driving system crashed into a buffer vehicle. Coincidentally, the driver in that incident was also 32 years old. The repair cost for the buffer vehicle alone is estimated to be NT$1.8 million (approximately $56,000 USD), leaving the Porsche driver with a hefty bill.
