Prabowo Appoints Sudaryono as New Head of National Nutrition Agency

President Prabowo Subianto has appointed Sudaryono as the new Head of Indonesia's National Nutrition Agency (BGN), replacing Nanik S. Deyang who resigned earlier. The inauguration took place at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon.

Sudaryono's appointment, formalized by Presidential Decree Number 78P of 2026, is particularly significant due to his deep involvement in conceptualizing and formulating the technical aspects of the government's free nutritional meal (MBG) program. Presidential spokesperson Prasetyo Hadi highlighted Sudaryono's crucial role in developing this initiative, stating he "has been involved in the conceptualization of the Free Nutritional Meals Program since the beginning, and he has also worked with us to discuss and formulate the technical implementation of the program."

The President has decided on the replacement for BGN head, Bapak Sudaryono, who currently serves as Deputy Minister of Agriculture.

His prior experience as Deputy Minister of Agriculture is also seen as an added advantage, given the MBG program's reliance on food material distribution. The Ministry of Agriculture plays a vital role within the ecosystem that supplies food for the program's beneficiaries. Sudaryono's leadership marks a transition for the BGN, ending Deyang's brief 45-day tenure and placing a key figure in the MBG program's development at its helm.
