President Lee Hosts Children's Day Event at Presidential Office, Fostering Hope and Inclusivity

In a heartwarming display of presidential engagement, South Korean President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung opened the doors of the Presidential Office to approximately 200 children on May 5th, celebrating the 104th Children's Day. This special event, held at the Yongsan Presidential Office, marked the President's first Children's Day celebration since returning to the office, and it was thoughtfully designed to include children from various backgrounds, including those residing near the presidential compound.

The young guests were treated to an immersive experience, beginning with a tour of the Presidential Office's main building, including the Sejong Hall and Chungju Hall, which are used for live-streamed State Council meetings. Following this educational segment, the children moved to the Green Garden, transformed into a playful wonderland with swings and a mini-airplane. Here, they engaged in a variety of activities, including a fun cupcake-making session and a practical handwashing experience, emphasizing health and well-being in a festive atmosphere.

The selection of invited children was particularly inclusive, featuring youngsters from multicultural families, single-parent households, and children with rare diseases, many of whom President Lee had met during his visits to welfare facilities. The Presidential Office stated that the event was meticulously planned to help children dream of a hopeful and bright future, reinforcing the administration's commitment to building a healthy and happy South Korea for all its young citizens. This initiative underscores a national priority to nurture the next generation and ensure every child feels valued and supported.
