President Mahama to inaugurate multi-purpose car park and Airport Hotels Complex

President John Dramani Mahama is set to officiate the groundbreaking ceremony for a new multi-tiered, multi-purpose car park and Airport Hotels Complex, a project poised to elevate Accra International Airport to world-class standards. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, August 27, 2026.

This initiative builds on the Mahama administration's track record of delivering significant infrastructure projects, including Terminal 3 at Kotoka International Airport and securing funding for the Tema to Mpakadan Rail Project. The new complex is designed to substantially enhance the airport enclave, improve passenger experience, and stimulate commercial activities.

The development will feature a seven-story car park with over 2,000 bays, two hotels, a pedestrian connector to the terminal, a shopping mall complete with a food court and retail spaces, and office rentals. Additionally, it will include a sky lounge for entertainment and a sky observatory for viewing aircraft operations.

The sod-cutting ceremony marks the beginning of construction, aiming to add vital infrastructure that will solidify the airport's status as a competitive aviation hub within the sub-region.
