President Prabowo returns to Jakarta after state visit to France

President Prabowo Subianto has returned to Jakarta following a state visit to Paris, France. He departed from Orly Airport in Paris on Friday, May 29, 2026, heading back to the Indonesian capital. The trip focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Indonesia and France.

During his stay in Paris, Prabowo engaged in several key diplomatic activities. He was seen off at the airport by French officials, including Eléonore Caroit, Minister for Francophonie, International Partnerships, and French Nationals Abroad, and Military Governor of Paris General Loïc Mizon. Indonesian Ambassador to France Mohamad Oemar and Indonesian Defense Attaché in Paris Marsma TNI Hendra Gunawan were also present.

During his stay in Paris, Prabowo underwent several important agendas in order to strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and France.

Accompanying Prabowo on the flight back to Jakarta were Foreign Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya. According to a press release from the Presidential Secretariat's Press, Media, and Information Bureau, the visit was crucial for "strengthening bilateral relations between Indonesia and France."

Initially, Prabowo's European tour was slated to include visits to Austria and Hungary. However, confirmation regarding whether these subsequent stops occurred remains unclear. A spokesperson for the Gerindra Party, Sugiat Santoso, had previously stated that Prabowo would visit three European countries, emphasizing their strategic importance for Indonesia, particularly concerning investment and downstream industries, given Indonesia's significant global nickel reserves.
