Prevention Is Key in the Cyber World

Cybercriminals are taking advantage of every opportunity to attack systems, steal data and defraud victims. In Poland, CERT Polska recorded 31,200 cybersecurity incidents in July 2026, compared with 22,800 the previous month. Government cybersecurity data counted almost 273,000 incidents across 2025, a year-on-year increase of 144.4%.

The risks extend across the business sector. KPMG’s 2025 Cybersecurity Barometer found that 96% of organizations had experienced at least one incident. The result rose by 13 percentage points from the previous year and marked the highest reading in the survey’s nine-year history. Half of the companies also reported an increase in attempted attacks.

The answer, according to the material, is not simply to respond faster after an intrusion. Prevention depends on employee awareness, since human mistakes remain a weak point in defenses, as well as tools designed around real threats and business needs. The article was produced in cooperation with Orange Polska, which has recently added two cybersecurity services for companies.

One of them, Remote Service Access, focuses on industrial infrastructure. Operational technology includes systems used in energy, transport, industrial automation and water utilities. The service controls remote work by suppliers and employees, protects the supply chain and limits the risk of unauthorized actions.

Connections to equipment such as programmable logic controllers, human-machine interfaces, SCADA systems, servers, engineering stations, routers and switches can be authorized, monitored and recorded. The system is intended to prevent uncontrolled connections from external environments while giving companies visibility into the activity of workers and service technicians who access their networks. A second Orange service provides comprehensive protection against cyberthreats for medium-sized and larger companies.
