Primary suspect in murder of Benayahu Razi arrested after two-week manhunt

Avior Sasson, the 17-year-old primary suspect in the fatal stabbing of 19-year-old Benayahu Razi, has been apprehended following a two-week manhunt, Israeli police confirmed Tuesday. The arrest brings a significant development in the investigation into Razi's death, which occurred in the Nachlaot neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Adding a complex layer to the case, an Israel Prison Service officer was also arrested. Authorities suspect the 34-year-old officer obstructed the investigation into Razi's murder. Police believe she maintained a personal relationship with an inmate at the central Israeli prison where she serves, identified by reports as Sasson’s brother. Investigators suspect the two collaborated to impede the investigation and aid Sasson during the manhunt.

This development follows previous arrests made by Israeli police last week in connection with Razi's murder. Two other suspects, an unnamed 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old boy from Elad, were taken into custody. The investigation continues as authorities piece together the events leading to Razi's death and the alleged involvement of those arrested.
