Primera C: Pilcomayo leads from start to finish

Pilcomayo of Mariano Roque Alonso has held first place in Paraguay’s Primera División C through all 14 rounds, turning a strong start into a sustained push for the title.

The club has collected 31 points from 10 victories, three draws and one defeat. Sport Colonial trails by two points, while General Caballero de Zeballos Cue sits six points behind in third. The top two finishers will be promoted to Primera B.

Primera División C is the fourth and lowest level of the Paraguayan Football Association. Twelve clubs compete in a double round-robin format across 22 rounds.

Pilcomayo is chaired by Ricardo Insfrán, with former professional footballer Daniel Ferreira Caballero serving as vice president and overseeing the football department. His father, Jorge Daniel Ferreira, leads the coaching staff alongside assistants Isaías Quintana and Jaison Vázquez and fitness coach Delio Medina.

Founded on June 9, 1915, the black-and-white club nearly secured promotion last year. It has already won the division twice, in 1999 and 2016, and is now pursuing another title from the front of the standings.
