Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail: A Lesson in Obedience

The Quran details Prophet Ibrahim's prayer for righteous offspring, to which Allah responded with the news of a patient son. As the son, Ismail, reached an age where he could assist his father, a significant test emerged through Prophet Ibrahim's dream. Upon sharing this dream with Ismail, the son's reaction is depicted as remarkably compliant rather than rebellious.

In Surah As-Saffat, verses 99-101, Ibrahim prayed for a righteous child, and Allah promised a son described as "halim," translated as very patient. When Ismail grew capable of assisting his father, a severe test arose. Ibrahim informed Ismail of his dream of sacrificing him and asked for his opinion.

Ismail's response is a deeply moving part of the story. He not only accepted the divine decree but affirmed his willingness to carry out Allah's command with patience. While the trial would be immensely difficult from a human perspective, requiring a father to contemplate sacrificing his beloved child, the Quran frames it as a genuine test. Ultimately, Allah replaced the sacrifice with a great ram, emphasizing submission and obedience over the act of human sacrifice itself. The core of the story lies in this devotion to Allah.
