Prosecutors Demand Review of Police Suspension in Yoon Cat Tower Embezzlement Probe

Prosecutors have stepped in to demand a review of the police's decision to halt the investigation into the alleged misuse of public funds by former President Yoon Suk Yeol and his wife concerning a cat tower. The police had cited ongoing related cases as a reason to suspend their inquiry, but the prosecution believes this decision needs further scrutiny.

The controversy centers on a cat tower, reportedly costing around 1.7 million won, and a cypress bathtub, valued at 20 million won, which were allegedly installed at the presidential residence using state funds. The issue gained traction when the items were seen being moved to the couple's private home shortly after they vacated the official residence. This has led to accusations of embezzlement, with a civic group filing a complaint with the police.
