Prosecutors Launch Probe into Alleged Cash-for-Attendance Scheme at Serbian Rally

Belgrade prosecutors have initiated legal proceedings following an N1 investigation that uncovered alleged cash payments for attendance at a Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) rally. The investigation documented instances where individuals reportedly received money to be present at the Belgrade Arena event, which took place shortly before local elections.

N1 reporters infiltrated the SNS gathering and captured footage showing people being handed cash. This evidence forms the basis of the criminal complaint that prosecutors are now examining. The prosecutor's office acknowledged that pre-investigation procedures are in progress.

However, officials declined to provide further details, citing concerns that any premature comments could compromise the ongoing investigation into potential violations of laws governing political party financing and election campaigns. The complaint was filed days after N1 aired its report on the matter.
