Quaest poll: Celina Leão leads Federal District governor race with 34%, José Roberto Arruda at 20%

Incumbent Governor Celina Leão (PP) is leading the race to retain her position in the Federal District, according to a new Quaest poll. Leão garnered 34% of voter intentions in the simulated election scenario. She is followed by former Executive Chief José Roberto Arruda (PSD), who served from 2007 to 2010, with 20% of the vote.

Leandro Grass (PT) is in third place with 13% of intentions. Other candidates, Paulo Belmonte (PSDB) and Ricardo Cappelli (PSB), each received 3%. The poll indicates that 14% of respondents are undecided, and 10% plan to cast a blank, null, or abstention vote. Kiko Caputo (Novo) has 2%, and Professora Samara Mineiro (UP) has 1%. Several other candidates received no significant support.

In the contest for the two Senate seats, Michelle Bolsonaro (PL) emerged as the frontrunner with 25% of voter intentions. Leila do Vôlei (PDT) follows with 17%. Erika Kokay (PT) has 12%, and Bia Kicis (PL) holds 9%. Professor Guilherme Amorim (UP) and Sebastião Coelho (Novo) each have 2%. Ronaldo Fonseca (PSD), Zanata (PSTU), and Tiago (Agir) received 1% each.

The Quaest survey, commissioned by Globo, interviewed 1,104 people aged 16 and older between August 21 and 24. The Federal District's political landscape is currently influenced by a financial crisis at BRB, which is seeking a significant loan to cover losses. Leão has publicly opposed BRB's acquisition of Banco Master, a deal orchestrated by the previous administration where she served as vice-governor. Meanwhile, Arruda's candidacy is pending a decision from the Electoral Justice system, as he faces ineligibility until December 2030 due to past convictions related to the "Mensalão do DEM" scandal.
