Quito deploys 6,700 personnel for August holiday security

The Municipality of Quito has mobilized 6,700 personnel to guarantee citizen protection and maintain strict order during the upcoming August 10th national holiday weekend. The comprehensive security plan involves coordinated efforts between municipal agents, the National Police, and the Armed Forces.

To ensure real-time monitoring throughout the festivities, a Unified Command Post (PMU) was activated at the Metropolitan Emergency Operations Committee (COE) headquarters. This central hub will oversee the orderly progression of 20 planned public events from August 7th to 10th, maintaining immediate response capabilities for any eventualities across the capital.

Operational priorities include intensified control and inspection at key public gathering points. This involves managing activity at the Carcelén and Quitumbe bus terminals, overseeing commercial establishments, and monitoring public spaces. Municipal brigades will also supervise the proper use of public pools, parks, and lagoons, enforcing social conduct norms across various city zones.

Furthermore, the municipal administration will maintain a presence through Operational Command Posts (PMO) strategically located in 22 different sectors of the city. These posts aim to provide continuous support to both residents and visitors, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for celebrating the national holiday.
