Valeria Márquez Case: Prosecutors point to more individuals involved in the crime

More than a year after the femicide of influencer Valeria Márquez, the investigation in Jalisco, Mexico, continues to expand, with prosecutors now pointing to the potential involvement of additional individuals in the crime. The Fiscalía General of Jalisco, led by Salvador González de los Santos, indicated that 'two or three more people' may be linked to the murder of the content creator.

The investigation has identified Ramón Ángel Álvarez Ayala, alias 'El R-1,' as a key figure. He is reportedly the leader of the criminal cell 'Los Rs.' Authorities also reported the arrest of Iván Martín 'N' in Zapopan on August 1, 2026, as part of the ongoing inquiry into Márquez's death.

This case has taken a significant turn, particularly after Omar García Harfuch, Mexico's Secretary of Public Security and Citizen Protection, previously implicated 'El R-1' as the alleged intellectual author of the crime. According to this hypothesis, Álvarez Ayala's son, Francisco 'N,' may have had a romantic relationship with Márquez and allegedly commissioned his father to commit the femicide.

The inquiry is also scrutinizing Márquez's inner circle. Part of the ongoing diligence involves interviewing and interrogating people close to the influencer, including some of her friends. However, authorities are still working to establish the precise role each implicated person may have played and to determine if there is sufficient evidence to bring new charges.

Currently, the investigation remains open as the Fiscalía de Jalisco continues to gather evidence. The primary goals are to clarify who participated in Valeria Márquez's murder and to uncover the motive behind the crime.
