Rabuka dismisses leadership challenge, confirms Kamikamica's return as deputy PM

Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has brushed aside suggestions of a leadership challenge within The People's Alliance, stating that such concerns are irrelevant. He was responding to questions about the return of former Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica to the Cabinet and his potential to become a future party leader.

Rabuka acknowledged Kamikamica as a natural contender due to his role in forming the party. He confirmed that Kamikamica would be reinstated as Deputy Prime Minister, overseeing portfolios related to commerce, trade, and communications. The swearing-in ceremony was initially delayed as Kamikamica was not yet ready.

Despite the internal discussions, Rabuka remains confident about his leadership and the party's prospects in the upcoming election. However, he cautioned against complacency, emphasizing that victory cannot be taken for granted. "We have to do a lot of work," Rabuka stated, highlighting the focus on election preparations and securing voter support.
