Rain and Hail Cause Flooding, Traffic Issues in Mexico City

Heavy rainfall and hail storms have caused widespread flooding and traffic disruptions in several boroughs of Mexico City, including Venustiano Carranza and Iztacalco. The downpours have left numerous areas inundated, impacting the daily commute for many residents.

The Center for Road Traffic Orientation of the capital's Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) reported significant water accumulation on the Viaducto al Oriente, near Economía street in the Ignacio Zaragoza neighborhood of Venustiano Carranza. This has prompted warnings for motorists to proceed with caution through the affected area.

Similar conditions were reported in the Granjas México neighborhood within Iztacalco, where flooding also contributed to the circulation problems. The combination of rain and hail created challenging driving conditions, leading to considerable delays.

This weather event follows a recent disruption on Line 1 of the Cablebús, which experienced a service suspension due to an electrical storm. The city continues to grapple with the impacts of severe weather, urging citizens to stay informed about traffic conditions and exercise vigilance.
