Rain and storms over Poland; heat to return to one region

Poland is set for a period of unsettled weather, with forecasts indicating rain and thunderstorms across much of the country. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management reports that a low-pressure system moving from west to east will bring unstable conditions, while southern and central Europe remain under weak high-pressure influence.

On Wednesday, cloudy skies with sunny spells are expected, particularly in the east and northeast initially. Scattered showers are likely, with thunderstorms possible in western and coastal areas. Rainfall could reach up to 15 mm in northern and southwestern regions. Maximum temperatures will range from 19°C to 23°C, potentially reaching 25°C in some southern locations. Winds will be moderate, becoming gusty, with speeds up to 65 km/h at the seaside and even higher in the mountains, reaching 90 km/h in the Sudetes.

Overnight, conditions will remain cloudy with intermittent rain and possible thunderstorms, especially in the south and center where rainfall could be intense, up to 15-20 mm. Minimum temperatures will vary from 10°C in Pomerania to 18°C in Subcarpathia. Winds will generally be light to moderate but could be gusty in some areas.

Looking ahead to Thursday, moderate to heavy cloud cover is expected with scattered rain. Thunderstorms are likely in the south and east, with rainfall potentially reaching 15-20 mm, and up to 30 mm locally in the south. Temperatures will range from 19°C on the coast to 24°C in the center, and up to 30°C in southern areas. Strong winds and gusts are also anticipated, particularly during thunderstorms.
