Rain to start early Wednesday in Santiago, intensifying throughout the day

Santiago is set to be drenched by rain starting in the early hours of Wednesday, with the precipitation expected to strengthen as the day progresses. The Chilean Directorate of Meteorology forecasts rainfall for the capital, with accumulations estimated between 6 and 10 millimeters in the Metropolitan Region.

In addition to the rain, snow is anticipated at altitudes above 2,400 meters. Meteorologist Arnaldo Zúñiga stated that between 15 and 20 centimeters of snow could fall in the Metropolitan Region, describing it as a "good amount of snow."

The approaching weather system will also bring significant winds. Zúñiga noted that the Andes mountain range, stretching from Arica to Aysén, will experience gusts between 60 and 70 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, precipitation will be more intense in the southern regions, from La Araucanía to Aysén, where up to 60 millimeters of rain are expected.
