Messages extracted from Daniel Vorcaro’s cellphone have opened a window onto the former banker’s contacts with senior Brazilian authorities and judicial figures. The document, prepared by the Federal Police, includes conversations about meetings with Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes and requests for help involving Attorney General Paulo Gonet and Federal Police Director-General Andrei Rodrigues.

Reports by Folha de S.Paulo said Vorcaro asked Moraes whether he should leave Brazil two days before his arrest. The messages also indicate that the two men met at least six times. In another exchange, the banker asked an interlocutor whom investigators suspect was Moraes to reinforce his situation with “Andrei and Paulo,” references investigators identified as Rodrigues and Gonet.

The police analysis also says Moraes made edits before the signing of a 131 million-real contract between Banco Master and the law firm of his wife, Viviane Barci de Moraes. A separate proposal involved a 50 million-real contract, with 40 million reais potentially paid through shares in a private jet and a helicopter. The firm says that proposal was never accepted or signed.

The messages further show Moraes’s involvement in organizing a legal forum associated with Vorcaro. According to the police, Pedro Gonet, the attorney general’s son, also sought to attend an event in London with expenses paid by the banker.

After the report was released, Paulo Gonet asked for it to be annulled. He argued that André Mendonça had ordered an investigation into Moraes without authorization from the Supreme Court’s full bench, exceeding the powers of the reporting justice. Mendonça plans to take the dispute to the full court and may release the case for judgment from the following week. Court President Edson Fachin will set the date.
