Real Madrid willing to sell Tchouameni to United to fund Rodri move

Real Madrid is reportedly open to a significant summer transfer move, considering the sale of midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni to Manchester United. This potential deal is seen as a strategy to generate funds needed to acquire Rodri from Manchester City.

The future of the French international at the Santiago Bernabéu has become uncertain, despite his previous status as a key player in the club's long-term plans. Manchester United has reportedly made initial inquiries about Tchouameni, who is valued at approximately 68 million pounds (RM370 million). United manager Michael Carrick is keen to strengthen his midfield and is seeking a defensive midfielder to complement Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.

Real Madrid's primary focus has shifted towards signing Rodri, whose impressive performances for Spain in the 2026 World Cup have made him a top priority. The 30-year-old Spanish captain, valued at around 85 million pounds (RM462 million), has one year remaining on his contract with Manchester City. Despite facing minor back surgery that may cause him to miss the start of the new season, Real Madrid views Rodri as a crucial player for their midfield.

Although new Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho initially intended to keep Tchouameni, who has a contract until 2028 and had reportedly reached a verbal agreement for an extension, the club's transfer strategy has evolved. According to SunSport, Real Madrid is now prepared to consider suitable offers for the French international. Tchouameni joined Real Madrid from Monaco in 2022 for 68 million pounds and has since developed into one of Europe's top midfielders, with experience in major finals and a Champions League title with Real Madrid.
