Retamozo asks minister and other MEC authorities to be summoned to clear up doubts

Senator Ramón Retamozo has requested that authorities be summoned to address doubts surrounding his law degree, following accusations from Deputy Raúl Benítez. Retamozo asserts that the confusion stems from a mix-up between his degree and his study certificate, explaining that while he completed his law studies at the Paraguarí campus of Universidad Internacional Tres Fronteras, his degree was officially issued from the university's central headquarters in Ciudad del Este.

"It is correct that my law degree is registered and was issued in Ciudad del Este," the senator stated, adding that his study certificate explicitly notes his coursework was completed in Paraguarí. He has formally requested that the special commission investigating potentially falsified titles summon officials from the Ministry of Education and Sciences, the National Council of Higher Education (Cones), and the National Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education (Aneaes).

Retamozo also proposed inviting Deputy Benítez to the hearing to directly question the university representatives and education officials. "I have no intention of hiding anything whatsoever regarding my education," Retamozo said, emphasizing his desire for official clarification and supporting documentation to dispel the doubts.

Responding to claims about the closure of university branches, Retamozo pointed out that while Cones did order the closure of several affiliates, including Paraguarí, in 2017, he completed his studies in 2013, prior to the resolution. He seeks to have these questions officially addressed by the relevant educational authorities.
