Reykjavik Police Handle Multiple Assaults and Traffic Incidents Overnight

Reykjavik's police force was kept busy overnight, responding to a series of incidents including three physical assaults and a high volume of traffic stops. The capital region saw disturbances in both Hafnarfjörður and Kópavogur.

In Hafnarfjörður, police arrested a woman in an intoxicated state for assault and took her into custody. A second assault was reported in the same district, described as "minor," with the perpetrator having already left the scene by the time officers arrived. However, police have identified the individual involved. A third assault took place in Kópavogur, leading to the arrest and detention of one man.

Beyond the assaults, the police reported sixteen traffic incidents between 5 p.m. yesterday and 5 a.m. this morning. The night's activities also included responding to a theft in Reykjavik's 104 district, which was resolved at the scene. Two men were detained in the city center for public intoxication but were released after questioning. Additionally, police were called to a workplace accident in Kópavogur, and one man was transported to the hospital with head injuries.
