Rhodes: Driver hits 72-year-old man and flees scene

A shocking incident occurred on the Greek island of Rhodes when a driver struck and injured a 72-year-old man who attempted to prevent her from fleeing the scene of a hit-and-run.

The driver, while reversing, collided with a parked vehicle. When the owner of the damaged car, a 72-year-old man, came out to confront her, the driver accelerated, hitting him with her car. The entire event was captured on surveillance cameras.

The victim's daughter described the harrowing experience, stating, "In her attempt to leave with the car, she simply crashed into our car, which was parked below the house. My father ran to stop her, and in the process, she ran him over on his legs and simply got up and left." She added that her father was run over on his legs and that the car sustained significant damage. The daughter expressed concern about what could have happened if a small child had been present.

Bystanders rushed to assist the injured man, and his wife immediately alerted the police. The victim's daughter also noted that the driver appeared intoxicated and hit other objects twice more while trying to escape. The 72-year-old man is reportedly recovering from his injuries. Authorities, after reviewing the video footage, were able to identify the driver, who has since agreed to pay for the damages caused.
