Rights Group Urges Spain to Hold Accountable Extremists Who Tore Moroccan Flag in Madrid

The Moroccan Human Rights and Environment Association in Casablanca has condemned what it described as “provocative and cowardly scenes” in Madrid, where extremist individuals allegedly attacked and tore the Moroccan flag.

In an official statement, the group urged Spanish authorities to accept their legal and moral responsibilities. It called for the necessary measures to prevent such incidents from happening again and to hold those involved accountable under applicable law.

The association said the incident came amid growing signs of intolerance and racism. It stressed that the Moroccan flag represents national sovereignty and unity, and that attacks on national symbols were an unacceptable “red line.”

The group also rejected all forms of provocation and racism, saying hostile acts targeting Morocco’s dignity, identity and sovereignty could not be accepted.
