RKS wallops RSMS, Cuvu thrashes St John’s in U18 rugby eliminations

Defending Vodafone Deans Under 18 champions, Ratu Kadavulevu School (RKS), demonstrated their prowess by overwhelming Ratu Sukuna Memorial School with a decisive 43-14 victory in their elimination game. RKS established dominance early, scoring three tries within the first 20 minutes and extending their lead to 26-0 by halftime. Although RSMS managed two converted tries in the second half, RKS responded with three more tries, maintaining a fast-paced game that prevented their opponents from settling.

In another significant match, Cuvu College showcased their class and superior ball movement, thrashing St John College 55-7. Cuvu dictated the pace of the game throughout the encounter. Meanwhile, in the Western Zone eliminations, Ba Provincial Freebird Institute and Queen Victoria School played to a 29-all draw, with Ba Provincial advancing due to scoring the first try.

Nasinu Secondary School narrowly escaped a determined Holy Cross College team, winning 21-20 after trailing 17-0 at halftime. Holy Cross's late-game miscalculation regarding the score cost them possession. Suva Grammar School also advanced, defeating Ratu Luke Secondary School 50-6 with a display of class, pace, and precision. Lelean Memorial School continued its unbeaten streak with a 26-7 win over Marist Brothers High School, while Ratu Navula College beat hosts Shri Guru Nanak Khalsa College 27-13.

Nasinu, Lelean, Ba Provincial, RKS, Cuvu College, Ratu Navula, and Suva Grammar have all qualified for the national quarterfinals scheduled for the following Saturday.
