Road repair complaints grow over slow pace on Casabito-Constanza highway

Residents and drivers are expressing growing frustration over the sluggish pace of repairs on a collapsed section of the Casabito-Constanza highway in La Vega province. The intervention, which began over a year ago, has led to significant traffic congestion and delays for daily commuters.

One passes through here and the work looks very slow. Sometimes we arrive and there is no one working. This harms us because of the danger and the time we lose.

One truck driver, Jeremy Rosario, described the situation as a constant risk, noting that work often appears stalled, causing significant time loss. Wellington García, who transports vegetables from Constanza, echoed these concerns, stating that the promised two-month completion time has long passed, disrupting commercial operations.

Local business owner Viterbo Mora highlighted that the slow progress is a frequent topic of complaint among travelers. He urged authorities to expedite the repairs, pointing out that weeks can pass with no work or minimal staff on site.

The contractor, however, cites the area's complex geological conditions and persistent rainfall as major challenges. They explained that while a stabilizing base has been constructed, the next phase involves building supporting structures for the road's permanent foundation. Due to these ongoing difficulties and weather interruptions, a definitive completion date remains uncertain. The company emphasized its commitment to maintaining traffic flow with safety measures, recognizing the road's importance as the primary access to the agricultural hub of Constanza.
