Road safety agency recovers stolen vehicle in Abuja and hands it to police

Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps recovered a stolen white pick-up during an overnight operation in Abuja and handed it to police for investigation.

The Tow Truck Team of the RS7.1 FCT Sector Command found the vehicle, registration number YAB 677 XD, at about 3 a.m. on August 23, 2026. It was located along the expressway leading to Berger in the Wuye area of the Federal Capital Territory.

FRSC personnel discovered the vehicle’s original documents inside. They used a telephone number listed in the documents to trace and contact the purported owner, who was informed of the recovery.

The agency said Sector Commander Corps Commander Tijjani Iliyasu then invited the FCT Police Command to take custody of the vehicle and begin further investigation. DCC Sabitu Abdu, the deputy corps commander for operations, handed it over on behalf of the sector commander to CSP Nuhu Usman, who received it for the FCT commissioner of police.

The FRSC described the recovery as an example of operational intelligence, vigilance and quick response when road safety duties overlap with wider public security work.
