Robert Harrison: 'We Want to Make the Best World Cup in History'

Robert Harrison, president of the Paraguayan Football Association (APF), expressed high hopes for the national team's performance in the 2026 World Cup, stating a desire to make it the "best World Cup in history."

Speaking after the inauguration of the senior team's new hotel at the High Performance Center in Ypané, Harrison acknowledged the need for a grounded approach, emphasizing a "game by game" strategy. However, he set an ambitious target for the Albirroja: to play all eight matches of the tournament. This would mean surpassing the team's best-ever World Cup showing, which was reaching the quarterfinals in South Africa in 2010.

"I think we have to have our feet on the ground. I always think that in football, success sometimes works against you, so we have to be cautious," Harrison said. "We are well prepared, we are going to have a great World Cup, we want to have the best World Cup in history; hopefully, we can play all eight games, which requires a lot of analysis game by game."

Harrison conveyed that the team is currently very well-prepared and highly focused. The inauguration of the new hotel and facilities at the training center has created an atmosphere of optimism within the squad and leadership. The team is reportedly maintaining its intensity during training sessions in Ypané, with the aim of making history in the upcoming tournament.
