Rohingya family of three killed in house fire

A pre-dawn fire in Taman Serai Maju, Bagan Serai, claimed the lives of three Rohingya family members on Monday. The blaze, which erupted around 5:17 AM, consumed approximately 70% of the Class A house where the family resided.

A woman, Saniya Jahan Juma Abul Kasim, 24, was found outside the house with burns on her hands and feet. The victim informed that her husband and two children were still trapped inside the house.

Fire and Rescue Department personnel from Bagan Serai, Kuala Kurau, and the Bagan Serai Volunteer Fire Brigade responded to the emergency call. Upon arrival, they found the house engulfed in flames. A woman, identified as Saniya Jahan Juma Abul Kasim, 24, was found outside the burning structure with burns on her hands and feet. She informed rescuers that her husband and two children were still trapped inside.

Firefighters initiated a rescue operation, locating the three victims in the first room of the house, which was heavily damaged by the fire. A Health Ministry medical officer confirmed their deaths at the scene. The fire was brought under control by 6:20 AM and the operation concluded by 7:35 AM. The deceased were handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police for further action.
