Roma stun Atalanta 2-1 with two late goals to join Inter at Serie A summit

Roma overturned Atalanta in a wild finish at the Olimpico, scoring in the 90th and 93rd minutes to win 2-1 and join Inter at the top of Serie A. Both teams now have nine points from three victories.

Atalanta appeared to have protected its lead through most of the match. Éderson scored three minutes after halftime after Charles De Ketelaere reached the byline and pulled the ball back into the area. A poor clearance from Evan Ndicka and a delayed reaction from Gianluca Mancini allowed the Brazilian to strike past Mile Svilar.

Roma had dominated much of the play before conceding, but Marco Carnesecchi repeatedly kept the home side out. The Atalanta goalkeeper stopped Paulo Dybala and Donyell Malen, while the post and crossbar denied Santiago Castro twice. Even after Castro hit the post again in the 89th minute, Carnesecchi produced a double save and seemed set to preserve the result.

Roma finally broke through from a corner. Mario Hermoso headed past Carnesecchi in the 90th minute, and Atalanta had barely recovered when Matías Soulé fired a left-footed shot in the 93rd minute. The comeback lifted Roma to the summit alongside Inter, after both sides had entered the match with six points.
