Roy Suryo files fourth pretrial motion, challenging travel ban

KMRT Roy Suryo, a suspect accused of making false claims about President Joko Widodo's diplomas, has filed a fourth pretrial motion at the South Jakarta District Court. This new legal challenge specifically targets the travel ban imposed on him.

Roy Suryo's legal team confirmed the filing, stating that the first hearing for this motion is scheduled for Friday. This marks the latest in a series of legal maneuvers by Suryo concerning the case that has ensnared him.

Previously, Suryo had lodged three other pretrial motions. His third motion, registered on July 15, 2026, sought compensation for alleged damages, requesting a total of Rp206 million (approximately $13,000 USD) for material and immaterial losses. The respondents in that motion included the Polda Metro Jaya and the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office.

His second pretrial motion, which contested his status as a suspect, was rejected by the court. However, Suryo achieved a victory in his first pretrial motion, which concerned the legality of searches, arrests, and detentions related to his case.
