Russian attacks kill at least five in Ukraine's Kharkiv region

Russian forces launched attacks on Ukraine's northeastern Kharkiv region on Sunday, resulting in at least five fatalities, regional authorities reported. The assaults included a drone strike on railway infrastructure in the Lozivska district, which killed two people and critically injured an 11-year-old girl, the daughter of one of the victims. The military governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Synegubov, shared a photograph of a burning train, indicating a pattern of Russian attacks on Ukrainian rail transport.

In a separate incident, three more individuals lost their lives in an attack on the outskirts of Kharkiv city, the region's capital. The Kremlin's forces also targeted the city of Konotop in the neighboring Sumy region, hitting a bus parking lot and causing a widespread gas outage, according to the municipal council. These attacks come as civilian deaths in the conflict continue to rise, with July alone recording 437 fatalities, a figure not seen since May 2022, according to a UN commission investigating the war's impact on civilians.

Russia also attacked in the last hours the city of Konotop in the Sumy region, where the Kremlin forces hit a bus parking lot and left most of the city without gas supply.
