Saharan Dust to Enter Panama This Weekend, Hazy Conditions Expected

Panama will experience an influx of Saharan dust particles starting this weekend, according to an advisory from the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHPA). The watch is in effect from Friday afternoon through Monday night, with the most significant concentration expected to arrive Sunday afternoon.

The IMHPA forecasts moderate dust concentrations over the central and eastern Caribbean, as well as in Coclé, Panama Oeste, and Panama. Lower concentrations are anticipated in the western part of the country. This atmospheric event is predicted to create hazy conditions and a higher perceived temperature, potentially altering the sky's appearance and air quality.

Individuals with allergies or respiratory sensitivities are particularly advised to take precautions due to the suspended particles. Historically, Saharan dust has influenced atmospheric conditions in Panama, sometimes inhibiting deep cloud formation and reducing rainfall. Authorities will continue to monitor the situation.
