Sahmyook University Runs Cabin Crew Training Program

Sahmyook University's University Job Plus Center has concluded its 'Final Boarding: Practical Track for Foreign Airline Cabin Crew' program, designed to prepare young job seekers for careers with international airlines. Held from June 22 to July 15, this marks the fourth year the program has been offered during the summer break, in collaboration with the university's Department of Aviation Tourism and Foreign Languages.

Funded by the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'University Job Plus Center Hub-Type Special Program,' the initiative selected 20 participants who met specific foreign language proficiency requirements and aspired to work for foreign airlines. The cohort included 13 Sahmyook University students, 3 alumni, and 4 local youths from other institutions.

This year, students not only from the Department of Aviation Tourism and Foreign Languages but also from various majors such as Nursing, Physical Therapy, and Architecture showed high interest in overseas employment and actively participated in the program.

Over four weeks, the intensive 66-hour curriculum covered essential topics such as introductions to foreign airlines and their recruitment processes, job application strategies, and practical mock interviews, including image consulting, hair, and makeup. The program also focused on video interview techniques, analysis of global airline interview trends, and mentorship from former flight attendants. The goal was to maximize participants' self-presentation and interview skills through a blend of theory, practice, and personalized feedback.

The program was offered free of charge, with certificates awarded to those who attended at least 80% of the sessions. Sahmyook University highlighted the program's strong track record, noting that 11 participants secured positions with airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, and ANA in 2023. Previous years also saw successful placements in domestic and international carriers. This year's participants are already showing promise, with one having passed the initial screening for Riyadh Air and proceeding to a video interview. The university plans to continue offering post-program support for employment.
