San Francisco 49ers owner arrested for possession of criminal tools and disorderly conduct

Jed York, the owner of the NFL's San Francisco 49ers, was arrested over the weekend in East Palestine, Ohio. He faced misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools.

York, 46, did not contest the charges. He pleaded no contest and was sentenced to one day in jail, which was credited as time served. He also received a fine of $1,150. Court records indicate that York was initially charged with engaging in prostitution, but prosecutors later amended the charge to disorderly conduct.

He was released on a $5,000 bond. Records also show that York's cell phone was returned to him, and $160 in seized cash was to be given to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force as part of the plea agreement.

York assumed day-to-day control of the 49ers in 2008 and became the principal owner in 2024. Under his leadership, the team has become a consistent contender since the hiring of coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch in 2017, reaching the Super Bowl three times. He also oversaw the construction of Levi's Stadium.
