San Juan del Barrio Mariscal shines in its fifth edition

The Barrio Mariscal in Paraguay transformed into the heart of Paraguayan tradition on Sunday for the fifth edition of the San Juan del Barrio festival. The event successfully drew a large crowd, reaffirming its position as the city's most significant cultural gathering and a beloved classic in the local calendar.

Attendees were treated to a rich array of traditional seasonal flavors from a diverse gastronomic offering, alongside classic San Juan games that kept the cultural essence of the festival alive. The organizers emphasized an inclusive approach, providing dedicated spaces for families and even pets, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all.

The festivities kicked off at noon with performances by Cien x Ciento Danza and the Zaira Caballero Dance Academy. Throughout the afternoon, the event showcased a variety of artistic talents, including the Danzas María Asunción dance group, harpist Kike Pedersen, and the Municipal Band and Folkloric Ballet of Asunción.

Later in the evening, renowned requinto player Juan Cancio Barreto and the duo Sol Codas and Marcelo Gabriel took the stage. The event culminated with "The Biggest Dance" at 8:30 PM, encouraging attendees to join in traditional attire. The night concluded with performances by Jazmín del Paraguay, the duo Purahéi Soul, and a closing set by DJ Ata.

The fifth edition received consistent support from Banco Atlas as the official presenter and sponsorship from Munich, underscoring their commitment to fostering community engagement and cultural activities. The success of San Juan del Barrio Mariscal highlights its role not just as a culinary event, but as a vital space for integration, bringing the community together around its roots each year.
