San Pedro Volunteer Firefighters Launch Annual Collection to Fund Operations

San Pedro's Volunteer Firefighters have initiated their yearly solidarity drive, seeking community support to sustain their essential services. The campaign, coinciding with Paraguayan Firefighter Day, aims to secure funds for critical operational needs including fuel, unit maintenance, and the replenishment of vital supplies. These resources are indispensable for the firefighters to effectively respond to emergencies throughout the year.

The firefighters installed their main post in the historic Mariscal López plaza, on Braulio Zelada Avenue in San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú, in front of the Municipality.

The main collection point is established at the historic Mariscal López plaza, situated on Braulio Zelada Avenue in San Pedro de Ycuamandyyú, directly opposite the Municipalidad. Additionally, firefighting brigades are actively canvassing various city locations, visiting businesses and residences to solicit community backing. The organization emphasizes its reliance on public solidarity, as the majority of its operational budget stems from such fundraising efforts and voluntary contributions.

The members of the institution recall that the Fire Department depends largely on citizen solidarity to remain operational, as most of its resources come from solidarity campaigns and voluntary contributions.

To ensure transparency, all volunteers are clearly identifiable by their blue uniforms, yellow helmets, institutional credentials, and official donation boxes. The firefighters highlighted the significant number of traffic accidents in San Pedro, particularly at night, which leads to high consumption of first-aid materials, fuel, and rescue equipment. This is compounded by frequent calls to combat grassland, forest, and structural fires, all of which necessitate a continuous supply of materials.

To ensure the transparency of the campaign, all volunteers are fully identified with a blue uniform, yellow helmet, institutional credential, and an official piggy bank authorized to receive donations from citizens.

Beyond the annual collection, the fire department finances its activities through lotteries, barbecues, and other solidarity initiatives. These efforts help cover the costs of maintaining their vehicles, equipment, and station infrastructure. The volunteers urge all citizens to participate, stressing that every contribution, no matter how small, strengthens the response capacity of an institution dedicated to serving the community voluntarily and permanently.
