Santa Cruz Philharmonic Orchestra Celebrates 10 Years with "Latidos del Oriente"

The Santa Cruz de la Sierra Philharmonic Orchestra is marking its decade of musical performance with the return of "Latidos del Oriente," a concert celebrating the region's rich musical heritage. Following a successful debut in 2025, the second edition promises an even grander symphonic and choral experience, drawing from the collective memory of eastern Bolivia.

This year's concert, part of the 2026 Musical Season, will bring together more than 150 artists. Musicians from the orchestra, members of the choir, and guest artists will perform 14 songs deeply embedded in the region's cultural identity. These selections, including iconic pieces like "El camba," "Alma cruceña," and "Que viva el camba," have been specially adapted for a symphonic format over a year of dedicated research and arrangement.

"Latidos del Oriente" serves as a significant effort to valorize the cultural identity of Santa Cruz and its surrounding eastern territories. The program includes specific tributes, such as "El trasnochador" dedicated to the legacy of Leo Rosas, and a segment honoring the Dúo Guajojó with songs like "Payuje de amor" and "Romanza chiquitana." These homages underscore the orchestra's commitment to preserving and promoting the work of influential local musicians.

The event will feature a diverse lineup of soloists, including Charles Suárez, Luis Gamarra, Belén Bowles, Morgan, and Julio Tapia, alongside a special appearance by the Ballet Folklórico Piraí. Artistic direction will be led by Isaac Terceros, with Karina Troiano overseeing the choir and Verónica Cardoso directing the ballet. The concert's staging will be managed by Ariel Muñoz.

The repertoire spans various genres and eras of oriental music, from traditional melodies to contemporary compositions. The program includes pieces like "Santa Cruz es una fiesta" and "Popurrí Oriental," all presented in new arrangements. The celebration will culminate with a special segment dedicated to the Santa Cruz carnival, reflecting one of the region's most representative expressions of cultural and musical identity.
