Saudi Arabia forecast warns of heavy rain, flash floods and hail in four regions

Saudi Arabia’s National Center for Meteorology forecast moderate to heavy thunderstorms in parts of Jazan, Asir, Al-Baha and Makkah, with rain likely to produce flash floods and hail.

The center also said storm clouds could develop over parts of Najran, the southern areas of the Eastern and Riyadh regions, and the highlands of Medina. Active winds carrying dust and sand are expected in parts of those areas.

On the Red Sea, surface winds will blow from the northwest to west at 20 to 45 kilometers per hour, reaching 50 kilometers per hour toward the Gulf of Aqaba. Waves will generally range from one to two meters and could reach 2.5 meters near the Gulf of Aqaba. The sea will be moderate, becoming rough toward the gulf.

In the Arabian Gulf, easterly to southeasterly winds are expected at 10 to 28 kilometers per hour, with light waves.
