Saudi Customs Seize 879 Prohibited Items in One Week

Saudi customs authorities, under the umbrella of the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority (ZATCA), have intensified their efforts to combat smuggling and protect the nation's borders. The recent seizure of 879 prohibited items, including a significant quantity of narcotics and other illicit goods, underscores the commitment to national security and public safety.

The seized items included 71 types of narcotics, such as hashish, cocaine, heroin, shabu, and Captagon pills, in addition to 364 types of prohibited substances.

These operations highlight ZATCA's continuous vigilance in monitoring imports and exports, employing advanced techniques and close cooperation with partner agencies. The authority's proactive stance aims to safeguard the community from the dangers posed by contraband, ensuring that Saudi Arabia remains a secure and protected society.

The customs ports also thwarted 1915 attempts to smuggle tobacco and its derivatives, as well as 5 cases involving currency and 3 cases involving weapons.

ZATCA also emphasizes the importance of public participation in this crucial endeavor. By providing channels for reporting suspicious activities, such as a dedicated hotline and email, the authority encourages citizens to play an active role in thwarting smuggling attempts.
