Saudi Minister Praises Outgoing Jeddah Mayor for Eight Years of Urban Transformation

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia – As Engineer Saleh Al-Turki concludes his second term as the Mayor of Jeddah, Saudi Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Majed Al-Hogail, has lauded his significant contributions. Al-Hogail took to his official X account to express gratitude for Al-Turki's eight-year leadership, describing his tenure as "full of achievements and giving." The minister specifically noted Al-Turki's role in spearheading developmental initiatives that have tangibly improved urban landscapes and enhanced the quality of life for Jeddah's residents.

Al-Turki, a prominent figure in the municipal sector, has been instrumental in steering Jeddah's development in alignment with the ambitious goals of Saudi Vision 2030. His leadership saw a comprehensive restructuring and modernization of municipal services. Key initiatives included significant improvements to the urban environment, addressing visual pollution, upgrading infrastructure, and fostering public-private partnerships. Furthermore, he championed the acceleration of digital transformation within the municipality, aiming to create a more efficient and responsive administrative system.

Before transitioning to public service, Al-Turki brought a wealth of experience from the private sector, notably as the chairman of Nesma Holding Company. His background in managing large-scale projects and corporate operations has informed his administrative style, which emphasizes governance, institutional discipline, and empowering national talent. His tenure also navigated complex challenges, including managing the aftermath of floods and addressing the development of informal settlements, all while accommodating Jeddah's rapid urban and population growth.
