Saulius Baradinskas mourns the loss of his mother

Saulius Baradinskas has announced the passing of his mother, Irena Aldona Vyšniauskaitė Baradinskienė, a prominent figure in Lithuanian education and culture. She died after a prolonged battle with illness, as confirmed by Baradinskas on his Facebook profile.

His mother was celebrated as a dedicated Lithuanian language teacher, a poet, and a translator, known for her fluency in ten languages, including Japanese. She inspired generations of students, instilling in them a love for the Lithuanian language and preparing them for exams. As a poet, she published a collection of her works and had her poems featured in "Šiaurės Atėnai." Her multilingualism and global friendships underscored her vibrant engagement with the world.

Baradinskas shared a heartfelt tribute, describing his mother as his "best mother" who taught him to pursue his path with courage, explore the world, persevere, and live life fully while remaining grateful. She had been fighting cancer for fourteen years, maintaining her sense of humor and passing away peacefully surrounded by close family.

The farewell ceremony will take place at the Laidojimo Paslaugų Centre in Vilnius. Viewings are scheduled for Saturday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. On Sunday at 11:00 AM, her poems will be recited. The funeral service will be held at Liepynės Cemetery on Sunday at 2:00 PM. The family requests attendees bring a single white flower.
